evacuations are taking place in olde towne - the water is coming in quickly and many homes and businesses are flooded.
both the surge from the ocean, rising in the rivers that cannot drain and the lakes are filling. are the cause of the problem as isaac still is sitting over this area. even though isaac is now classified as a tropical storm and it is weakening, the water is still there and will take time to recede.
this area, slidell and st tamany are at risk. if you have family or friends living in this area, the media and officials are suggesting you call and wake them to alert them this is happening now.
president brister says call 911 if water is coming up on your street - the resources are in place to come and get you! shelters are in place and equipment to get you are staged. if your street is clear of water and you can drive, take a cell phone so if you get stuck, they can come and get you! the reverse 911 calls have been made - so everyone should prepare - it is under control - this is about using common sense in getting out if the water is coming up. dellwood, palm lake, eden isles, tester oaks and westchester are among the neighborhoods - the entire southern slidell area - are some of the areas needing to evacuate.
